Tirso Lighting was tasked with transforming the ARKA room, an exclusive 1300 square foot lounge located at the rear of a fine dining restaurant at 4488 Broadway, New York.
This elite space, primarily used for bottle service, required a sophisticated lighting solution that could also support live events and entertainment.
Behind the Scenes
The transformation of ARKA Room into a visually captivating space involved the careful integration of advanced lighting and video systems. This meticulous installation highlighted the technical precision required to ensure that each element complemented the sophisticated design goals of the lounge, creating an ideal setting for exclusive events and live entertainment.
PROGRAMMING
The programming for ARKA Room utilized Resolume Arena and GrandMA2 to manage its lighting and visual effects. This setup allowed for precise control and customization, enabling the synchronization of complex lighting sequences and dynamic visual displays that enhanced the venue’s immersive, high-energy atmosphere.
LED Screen Integration
For the ARKA Room project, the integration of LED screens was a pivotal element in enhancing the spatial perception and ambiance of the lounge. The design involved embedding vertical LED screens within high gloss black panels that lined both the walls and ceiling. This strategic placement not only maximized the visual impact of digital content but also contributed to an illusion of expanded space and height, vital for a venue with no natural light.
The LED screens were seamlessly integrated into the sleek, reflective surfaces, allowing for dynamic visual content that could be easily customized for various events. This setup was controlled by sophisticated software, enabling precise manipulation of visuals to complement the mood and theme of live events, thereby enriching the overall experience of the venue.
Solutions
Reflective High Gloss Structures:
We designed and installed wall-to-ceiling structures finished in high-gloss black material. This choice not only added a visual height but also became a striking feature, amplifying the space’s dimensions through its reflective quality.
Embedded Digital Displays:
The glossy panels included embedded vertical LED screens, enhancing the dynamic environment required for live performances and DJ events.
Advanced Lighting Systems:
Alongside the LED screens, we incorporated warm white LED linear lights on both sides of the panels, each controllable via our lighting control software to adapt to different events and moods.
The installation included intelligent lighting fixtures such as Elation Sniper 2Rs, Elation E Spot 3s, TLI 8 Beamer RGBW fixtures, ACL 360s on the stage, and static wash lights. These were strategically placed to interact with the reflective surfaces, effectively doubling the visual impact of each light.
Control Solutions:
The entire lighting setup was managed using Resolume Arena and GrandMA2 control systems, allowing for seamless operation and integration during live performances.
The Outcome
The lighting redesign of the ARKA room has not only met but exceeded client expectations. It successfully transformed a potentially confining space into an expansive, vibrant venue suitable for high-end entertainment. The reflective design elements and sophisticated control of the lighting systems create a captivating atmosphere that invites engagement and enjoyment.
